Kenya: Building a Future at Fiwagoh

As most of you already know, we expanded our involvement in Africa last year into Kenya. The Fiwagoh Mission School in Nakuru was started as an orphanage more than 25 years ago by Benson and Florence Nganga. It has grown to more than 400 students today, from pre-kindergarten through high school. Of these, a little over 100 students are orphans.

In Kenya, all orphans are to be placed in private homes rather than orphanages. In keeping with that goal, the school does not accept any new orphans into the orphanage, and the orphanage at Fiwagoh will officially close in 2032 when all current orphans will have graduated. In addition to academic learning opportunities, they have an impressive vocational development program in place that will help them become a self-sustaining educational center in the future. Currently, FOL is funding the construction of two classroom buildings for different age groups, as required by new government mandates. We are happy to share some photos from Fiwagoh.
